If you have to get rid of Maggie, don't take her to a sheltersearedtoashesNovember 29 2005, 03:05:20 UTC
See if you can put an ad in the newspaper and flyers around campus. An ad in the paper would only be a few bucks.
That's how I got my cat, I found an ad for him saying he was free to a good home. Usually people who read through the classifieds for pets aren't looking without good intentions. Tell your neighbor that since you don't think that Maggie would be put in a good home quickly enough from a shelter, you've put up flyers, etc. If your neighbor knows you're being proactive about it, she won't complain, and maybe you can keep maggie for a few more weeks or something.
First of all, neighbor needs to understand dog is still a puppy. The anxiety she has is normal. Our dog still has it and she's a few years old. If this is the neighbor I think it is then she has't the right to tell you what to do because she is "le deuche". I agree with the person below. Put an add in the paper or ask around. With it being this time of the year someone will want her. -hanson
don't get rid of her till you try everything...lady_jillianNovember 30 2005, 07:25:04 UTC
have you tried turning on a radio while you are not home to keep her company? or get her a hard flavored bone that she only gets when you are gone so she has something to do... and there have to be others... try everything... that dog is sweet and still young... how are you being cruel to the dog??? by leaving for a little while? that is not cruel that is normal... we had to make a pen in the garage for my dog because she did that stuff and eventually she grew out of it and realized that we were coming home... and if you do decide to give the dog away I will get the name and number of where they take the strays from my dad's work (and my dad's boss' wif would not let these animals go anywhere that they would be harmed or neglected) but try everything else first....
