There is a chair in Brandon's room. It's a nice chair. It's huge and off-white, with vertical stripes of alternating stitching in the same thread. The stripes almost look like a series of panels in relief. In 20th Century Art, Christine talked about de Stijl and early Bauhaus artists' use of panels of color as a counterpoint to architectural form. ( Read more... )

I'm reading the Charles Jarvis translation (OUP) but I've read bits of the Penguin edition and it seems equally good--and less difficult to find.
