dude, don't let people get you down. veganism isn't some competition to see who can be the most pure. and most americans don't understand the concept of traveling to other countries & being immersed in indigenous cultures to begin with, so don't expect them to understand. do what's right for you. an extra four months of your life eating meat isn't going to be any worse for you than the first 14 years you ate meat. plus, you can always do a nice, healthy cleanse when you get back if you're that worried about it.
