I just knocked out & emailed my tailored cover letter, resume & contacts for applying for that position with Penland; I'm shaky over it, the 13th (tomorrow/today) is the deadline. Great, another few weeks to look forward to getting more rejection/apathy-mail, with a slimmest of chance to be incredibly surprise & overjoyed. Bahhhh...

It so happens that there IS indeed an old commercial sewing machine repair place downtown about 22nd & Washington Ave that has a mortuary of old W&G strawmachines and a file cabinet of loose parts !!!! :) !!!! I think maybe what I need to do is have a giant calendar on my wall, one accordion folder full of prospectus/applications and another accordion folder to file copies printed documentation of my work, where I'll assign a serial number to each piece - particularly important for the ceramic stuff - and for all this paperwork, stick to one "brand" of ( Read more... )

Power outage @ work means you can't weld, grind or polish anything, which means the rest of the day off- ok, 3 fewer hours of pay, but otherwise "Yessssss!"

A man with an accent came in and decided to get the graphite asparagus and peapod - then at the counter he counted his money quietly in German- Eeee, adorable!!! I didn't get anyone to go with me, though neither did I try very hard to - really it's b/c I like the flexibility that going alone guarantees.
