Sometimes we're just not ready to go back again, you know? Especially when you're having to deal with literally a new generation of fans, jeez.

As for the new fandom, my sense is that I'll read stuff by folks I know from "proper" Trek fandom before I'm ready to read stuff by reboot converts? But then, the Brits went through this with all us latter-day Doctor Whovians, and there are many among them who've been able to accept the RTD Who into their hearts right along with Classic Who. (and, god, I hear you. One of my earliest tv memories was around age four sitting at the dining room table and eating while watching Star Trek:TOS because one of my parents had rolled our little black and white tv into the dining room because THIS WAS STAR TREK. And I still remember sitting down a year later to watch the TNG pilot and for seven years Saturday in our house was Star Trek and pizza and I swear by age 14 I had the omnipedia memorized and was toying with learning Klingon and could instantly recite for you every episode of TNG - title, timeline, plot, details. Trek gets in your blood.)
