I did. I liked it. Unfortunately, I fell asleep during the last half hour, and it was returned before I could finish it.

I think I once heard Eddie Izzard say that "Ick Ben Eyhn Bareleenur" can also translate into something like "I am a doughnut" which would play interestingly into your cookie analogy. Or I could have just not understood his joke.

And I don't think I could ever be an illegal cookie inspector. The abborations would be much too interesting for me to pass up, and I'd spend so much time trying the off-limits stuff I'd probably get charged with some sort of corruption and have an upset stomach to boot.

But, yes. I understand. I'm sorry about all the goddman illegal cookies.

no. you understood the joke correctly. a Berliner is a pastry...basically a jelly-filled doughnut. so "Ich bin ein Berliner" can either mean i'm a jelly-filled doughnut or i'm one of you (as he was addressing berlin at the time). there's actually a pastry called an Amerikaner...i'm not sure why because i've never seen anything like it in the US...although it's not very good, so perhaps it's some sort of joke. it's basicaly a large soft cookie, with hard glaze smeared on the underside. blah.

cookie inspector? thats not even a real job, plus its such an oddball thing to compare something to.

(its not a real job right? b/c if it is Im totally wasting my time making fancy coffee...)
