Rhinox knows Rattrap, Knows he's an idiot Knows he can't take care of himself Knows he has dangerous taste in people Rhinox has always been there for Rattrap Bailed him out of jail Dragged his drunk aft home Picked him up from places he shouldn't be in in the first place Rhinox tries to teach Rattrap How to get -and keep- a job How to be responsible How to be more than gutter trash Rhinox tries to help Rattrap Gets him jobs and keeps him from getting fired Keeps a roof over his head and energon in his tank Protects him from the legions of people out for his head. Rhinox tries, so hard, to take care of Rattrap And the ungrateful vermin doesn't even thank him.
YOU ARE MAKING YOURSELF HAPPY, DINGBOT. So proceeding was entirely against common sense. Downright foolish, in fact. Considering his past behavior, that's an argument to keep right on going

Also, OH GOD RATTRAP. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT FRIENDS ARE.
See, from Rhinox's end it all sounds just fine. Unless you know how to read between the lines. Of course, he leaves out some parts. "Takes the time out of his busy schedule to personally teach Rattrap what happens to people who are as annoying as he is" is very cleverly not included.
Yay, an update! You know I kept checking the Transfictions com every day to see if you'd posted or not. *is a stalker*
I love the title for this chapter on FF.net BTW, it made me LOL. What also made me LOL was Dinobot's attempts at kissing. Yay for teh awkwardness.
I do think you guys are hating a little too much on Rhinox. Yes he likely IS predjudiced against Predacons, but he sees it as his job to keep everyone from slagging themselves, and given how often the other Maximals likes to throw themselves into danger, I'd say that's probably a good thing. It's hard to break out of baby-sitting mode sometimes, and given that Rhinox is the eldest member of the Maximals, likely by a good span of years, he's probably very much used to the role
( ... )
And if Rattrap had gotten shot out of his hand? Think about that for a second. Rhinox wasn't saving a life, he was endangering yet another. Rattrap survives by dodging. Being held up immobile in enemy fire is about the most helpless position imaginable, and had to've terrified the hell out of him. And just what the hell purpose did it serve, anyway? Rhinox has TWO BIG FRICKIN' CHAIN GUNS OF DOOM. What the slag did he need another, smaller weapon for? (That's all Rattrap could function as in that position, another hand-held firearm. He could barely even turn to aim at all the way he was held up.) There was no logical reason for it -- two people in the same position, one unable to move, shooting in the same direction is the same as one person holding up two guns. Especially when that one person with two big guns can take a HELL OF A LOT MORE HITS than the little guy he's all but using as a shield
( ... )
Even the Chain Guns O'Doom aren't necessarily going to be enough against five Predacons. The sitatuation called for knocking the Preds down and getting Optimus and Cheetor out of there was quickly as possiible. Rattrap wasn't going to do dick all to help them (how's that for comraderie?) and in situations like that you don't have time to sit around arguing with people. Heck the whole reason Optimus nearly got slagged was because Rattrap refused to do what he told him to do. In a combat sitaution that'll get a lot of people killed really quickly.
Given that I can't really think of any examples where Rhinox did anything similar, I still maintain that I think he did it out of necessity rather than malicious intent.
You're a very talent writer and I enjoy this story like no other, but nothing wrecks a story quicker than character-bashing.
You're missing the point. Chain gun versus a lightly armored tiny spy with a bitty hand weapon. If you had to grab one to give your boss cover fire, which would you grab
( ... )
NP. Yeah, they're dancing all over the place. It's beginning to drive me nuts. I'm actually kind of glad they're backing off for a while. Drive this thing too fast and it'll crash.
