i've now attempted to make potato salad twice.
attempted, because, the first time, it tasted more like egg salad than potato. it was good, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't right. and it was FAR from mom's.
so, i tried again today.

my sister taught me how to swim. the pool was one thing, but where i got really good was at the beach. still very young, she would take me to the beach, and before allowing me to play in the sand or the water, she had me swim out to the buoy, tread water there for a while, then head back. i had to ignore the seaweed that would touch me, float past ( Read more... )

2c flour                 1c butter
1c sugar               1 egg
1 pinch salt          3T. peach or apricot preserves

not only a full moon to welcome 2010, but a blue moon.
blue moons happen once only every two and a half years and i can't find record of the last time one hit on new year's eve,so, this is a big deal.

it's snowing. it's snowing HARD. like, people are being sent home from work kinda hard. lemme tell you, from in my house, next to the fireplace with the xmas tree glowing and looking out the window at it? the snow is awesome!!!
