On sub-stellar starts to the day which turn out better than expected.
I certainly had an expectation this morning, knowing I was starting off my day with an hour-long train ride to get blood drawn (the lab is a few blocks from work). Instead, I had possibly the best blood-drawing experience EVAR! Very nice phlebotomist, who was done before I'd had time to realize she had the needle in. This makes me a happy puppy. On power loss.
Well. That's kinda funky... I woke briefly to roll over (at what my phone said was exactly 5:30) and the power went out. Just like that!
Looks like the whole neighborhood is down, too. The only things still on are anything with a battery backup... like the laptops, which are probably wondering where the router disappeared to, the iPods the kids ( Read more... ) -

Stopped by the diner we frequent after Friends-Killing Night to reconnoiter their alleged or so-called Gluten-Free offerings. Since K-man has taken up youth fencing, he's been coming with me to practice (homeschooling sleep schedule flexibility FTW!) Working with fountain pens I've never used tonight. I was toying with annyswolf's Waterman, which incidentally has a nice flow to it, but a thicker line than I usually like... and seems to enjoy writing out palindromes. I keep a little book in my dash pocket so I can write things down on the fly. If someone on one of my podcasts says something I want to remember, I try to scribble it in there.
