Jack dropped Ianto at his mam’s at the end of the day. Both reluctant for Ianto to get out of the vehicle.
“I’m going to miss you cariad.”
“Mmm I’m going to miss you too.”
“Jack”
“Yes sweetheart?”
“Gwen said something strange when I was making the coffee. She told me it won’t work, you and me.”
“Yeah, she told me the same. I’ve told her to drop it. I’m going to speak to Tosh tomorrow night, find out what gives. Then I’ll talk to her Thursday. I may have to finish her, I don’t want to she’s good at her job. But….”
“I know Jack. Let’s play it by ear.”
Jack leant across and kissed him passionately. Ianto’s arm snaked around Jack’s neck to pull him closer. Breaking for air their foreheads resting against each other. “Yan….sweetheart, if it gets too awkward for you, ring me and I’ll come get you.”
“I’ll be fine cariad. You heard what mam said, and Rhi, well she is ok with it. The only person will be Johnny, Rhi’s partner, but I don’t care. I love you and that’s all that matters.”
“Ianto Jones you are gorgeous, that’s why I love you.”
Ianto kissed Jack again. “I’ll let you know what mam’s said later tonight. I’ll ring you.”
“You had better Mr Jones, otherwise I’ll be worrying.”
“Don’t. I love you and I’ll speak to you later.”
“Bye.”
“Bye Jack.” And he got out of the SUV.
As he entered his mams house he could hear Rhi talking.
“But what’s Johnny going to think? My brother….gay!”
“Johnny can think whatever he wants. If your brother is happy then that’s all that matters.”
Ianto secretly thanked his mam for speaking up for him. He waited to see if Rhi had anything else to say and when he heard nothing he walked into the lounge. “Nice of you to talk about me when I’m not here.”
“Ianto I’m sorry but I….”
“Look I told you last time, I don’t care what Johnny says, I’m happy. Oh and you won’t have to worry about what he’ll say next time he comes around, I won’t be here.”
“Ianto, what do you mean?”
“I’m sorry mam, I didn’t want to tell you like this, but Jack’s asked me to move in with him and I’ve said yes.”
“Good, I won’t have to explain to Johnny then will I?”
“You can do whatever you want.”
“You don’t have to go son. He’ll not say anything, I’ll make sure of that.”
“I know I don’t have to go. I want to. I missed Jack last night. Yeah I know I’ve only known him a short while, but….but I love him.”
“Oh my God Ianto, that’s….”
“That’s fantastic, and that’s enough Rhi. Your brothers happy, let’s be happy for him.”
“Thanks mam.”
“Are you going tonight?”
“If you don’t mind, I’ll stay here tonight, I’ve got my stuff to pack. Jack’s coming to pick me up tomorrow night, we’re going out to Owen’s for a meal, then I’m going home with Jack. I’ll take some of my stuff then, but I’ll come back for the rest at the weekend. If that’s ok with you?”
“Of course it is. And remember, if things don’t work out between the two of you, you can always come back and live here. I don’t mind.”
“Thanks mam, for everything.” He went and hugged her. He could feel Rhi’s eyes on him as he left the room. He hoped Rhi would be happy for him, but wouldn’t be bothered if she wasn’t. He went to his room, he was pleased his mam was fine with who he was. If he was truthful he was a little hurt by Rhi’s comments. But he loved Jack and no-one could take that away from him. He picked up his phone and dialled Jack.
“Hi sweetheart, you ok?”
“I am now cariad. It was awful downstairs earlier.”
“Why what’s happened? Do you want me to come and get you?”
“No, I’m fine now. It was just Rhi being her usual Johnny’s always right self.”
“Was he there too?”
“No, but she’s going on about what he’s going to say when he finds out about us.”
“We’re still ok aren’t we Yan?”
“Hey Jack, I love you and no-one, not even Johnny, is going to take that away from us. I don’t care what he says, I’ve never really liked him.”
“If you’re sure you’re going to be alright, I’ll stay away.”
“Yes Jack, I’ll be ok. Look, I’ll go do my packing then I’ll be ready to move to yours tomorrow.”
“Ours, sweetheart. It’s our home now.”
“That sounds great Jack. I’m missing you like crazy. I can’t wait to be with you all the time.”
“I’ve got an idea.”
“Go on.”
“Why don’t you take some time off tomorrow, use my car and move your stuff all in one go, instead of some tomorrow and the rest at the weekend.”
“What will everyone at work say?”
“They don’t have to know what you’re doing, we could say it’s work.”
“Thank you Jack. Have I told you that you’re gorgeous?”
“Mmm, keep saying it. I love you so much Ianto Jones.”
“And I love you Captain Jack Harkness. Ok, I’ll use your car to move tomorrow. The sooner I’m away from Rhi the better. I’ll miss mam though.”
“Well she can always come here.”
“Thank you Jack.”
“There you go again. I’ve told you, you don’t have to thank me.”
“Yeah, I know. How’s Damien and Chris?”
“They’re as happy as I am. Apparently they knew you’d say yes.”
“And how did they know that? Don’t remember seeing a crystal ball last time I was there.” He laughed.
“They said they could see how much you loved me and we remind them of what they were like when they first met.”
“Oh right. You’ve got to admit though Jack, they are a gorgeous couple. Are we ever going to be like them?” Ianto stopped, he hoped Jack didn’t think he wanted to marry him.
“We are like them Yan, we love each other and we’re going to be together every day.”
Ianto smiled to himself, he was relieved Jack hadn’t taken his comments the wrong way. “I’m going to go finish packing cariad, otherwise I’ll not get moved tomorrow.”
“Ok my love. I’ll pick you up in the morning, you can drop me off at work, then take the SUV and move your things to our home.”
“Mmm I love the sound of that. Goodnight cariad, I love you and I’m going to be thinking about you tonight.”
“I never stop thinking about you my love. I love you and I’ll see you in the morning. Goodnight.” Jack reluctantly hung up.
Ianto finished putting everything back in his boxes then started on his clothes. It didn’t take him long, but by the time he’d finished he was tired. He went for a shower and smiled at the images he had of him and Jack in the shower. I can’t wait to be with you always Jack, I love you. He felt his blood supply rushing southwards again and palmed his hand over the arousal, smiling.
Jack hung up and went through to the kitchen where Damien and Chris had made some coffee.
“You ok Jack?”
“I will be when Ianto gets here tomorrow. He’s moving his stuff tomorrow morning.”
“Hey we could give him a hand.”
“I’ll suggest that to him in the morning. Thanks guys.”
“It’s no problem, what are friends for?”
“Look, if you don’t mind I’m going to head up to bed. I need a shower, then I’m going to sort some space out for Yan’s clothes.”
“Ok Jack, no problem. And don’t worry, everything is going to be ok when he gets here.”
“Yeah I know, it just seems a long time since he was here.”
“Boy you do have it bad don’t you Jack?”
“I never dreamed I’d feel like this about anyone, but he’s gorgeous, funny, loving….”
“Yeah Jack, we get the picture.” They all smiled. “Now go sort yourself out, he’ll be here tomorrow.”
“Thanks boys….night.”
“Goodnight Jack.” They said together.
Jack couldn’t stop thinking about his Ianto as he made room in his wardrobe and drawers for Ianto’s clothes. He’d never felt like this about Hart, or anyone he’d been in a relationship with. He heard the boys come up the stairs and go into their room. A few minutes later he smiled when he hear familiar noises. We’ll be like that tomorrow Yan. I’ve never loved anyone as much as I love Ianto Jones. Jack was smiling when he stood underneath the warm spray of the shower, he could feel stirrings below his waist and palmed his hand over his arousal to calm himself down. He stood for several minutes letting the spray wash over him. 24 hours and you’ll be here my love. He extracted himself and wrapped a towel around his waist. He was tired, he realised. It was the combination of not getting much sleep the previous night, a full day at work and missing his beloved Ianto.
He reached for his phone, he needed one last contact with his gorgeous lover before he went to sleep. Yan I’m missing you, I love you and in 24 hours you’ll be back in our bed. See you in the morning. I love you so much. Jack xxx he pressed send.
Ianto had just climbed into bed when his phone buzzed. He read the text and smiled. He liked the sound of our bed. He texted back I’m missing you too cariad. I like the sound of being in our bed and can’t wait. See you in the morning. I love you with all my heart. Goodnight lover. Yan xxx He pressed send.
As Jack was lying down his phone buzzed. Reading the message he smiled and knew everything was going to be alright. He could hear the boys again and secretly thanked them. If it wasn’t for their house he’d never have found Ianto.
Ianto’s alarm woke him, reaching out his hand to switch it off he smiled to himself. This was going to be the last time he woke up on his own. From now on he’d be wrapped in Jack’s arms. He looked at the boxes stacked in the room and leapt out of bed hoping Jack wouldn’t be too long getting there. He dressed and made his way down to the kitchen where he found his mam and sister.
“Morning. Lovely day isn’t it?” No one could upset him today. “What’s with the long faces?”
“I’m going to miss you Ianto. You’ve not been back long and it was nice to have you here.”
“Thanks mam, I’ll miss you too. What’s got you this morning Rhi?”
“I told Johnny about you last night when he rang and he said he’d wait till you’d gone before he came around. He didn’t want to end up like you.”
“What the hell does he think I’m going to do to him? Jump on him? No Rhi, he’s just being childish. I can’t wait to get away from here if you both think like that. I didn’t realise my sister was so homophobic or is it just Johnny that’s putting those ideas into your head?”
“I’m sorry Ianto, I love Johnny and….”
“No Rhi don’t say anymore. You don’t have to worry, I’ll be gone later this morning. Jack’s lending me his car and I’m moving out altogether today. So your precious Johnny’s safe from your gay brother!”
“Ianto I didn’t mean….”
“I’ve had it Rhi, you think whatever he tells you to think. I’ve never been so happy as I am with Jack and no-one is going to take that away from us.” He stormed out of the kitchen back to his room. He felt sorry for her in a way, being told what to think by that obnoxious guy. But it was her choice just like Jack was his. The only difference is he kept his comments about the dear Johnny to himself. He found himself wishing Jack would hurry up.
Jack had been lying awake waiting for his alarm to go off. Hitting it straight away when it did, he got out of bed smiling at the thought that next time he was in this bed it would be with his gorgeous Ianto, wrapped in each others arms.
As was the usual routine he heard movement in the kitchen as he headed there for coffee. When he opened the door he saw Damien stood behind Chris with his arms wrapped around his waist, his chin resting lightly on Chris’ shoulder. Jack smiled, they were the perfect couple. He hoped Ianto and he would be like that one day.
Damien heard him, and dropped one arm from around his lover. “Morning Jack, how are you this morning? Did you sleep?”
“Better, but it’ll be even better when Ianto gets here.”
“He has got it bad hasn’t he Chris?”
“Oh yeah, it’s great isn’t it?”
“Boys you don’t know how much.”
“I think we do Jack, I wouldn’t be without my hottie here, when I’m away on the ships I miss him terribly.”
“Yeah and I miss Chris so much it hurts.”
They all smiled. “I may have some news for you tonight Jack. I’m waiting on a phone call, so until then I can’t say much.”
“Sounds interesting. Right I must go pick my Welshman up. He’ll see you in about an hour, so you can ask him yourselves if he wants any help. I’ll see you tonight. Don’t forget you have the house to yourself tonight, we’re at Owens for a meal. You can do whatever you want and not get interrupted.” He laughed remembering how they’d caught him and Ianto.
“Thanks Jack. Have a good day and tell Ianto we’ll be here if he needs us.”
Jack arrived at Ianto’s but didn’t have time to get out the vehicle, Ianto was coming out of the front door. He must have been watching for him. As he got into the SUV he leant across and passionately kissed Jack.
“Wow, good morning Yan, that was nice, you ok?”
“I am now cariad, now you’re here. I’ve had words with Rhi and I’ll be so pleased to be away from her. She’s been listening to Johnny and seems to share his opinions about us.”
“Hey don’t worry about them, we know we’re meant to be together. We are in love, so stop worrying about what they think. We are what matters, that and getting you moved in. Damien and Chris have offered their services if you want them.”
“Great, it’ll make things easier if they can help. I love you Jack, now let’s get you to work. The sooner I get moved the better.”

“Sounds interesting. Right I must go pick my Welshman up. He’ll see you in about an hour, so you can ask him yourselves if he wants any help. I’ll see you tonight. Don’t forget you have the house to yourself tonight, we’re at Owens for a meal. You can do whatever you want and not get interrupted.” He laughed remembering how they’d caught him and Ianto.
“Thanks Jack. Have a good day and tell Ianto we’ll be here if he needs us.”
Jack arrived at Ianto’s but didn’t have time to get out the vehicle, Ianto was coming out of the front door. He must have been watching for him. As he got into the SUV he leant across and passionately kissed Jack.
“Wow, good morning Yan, that was nice, you ok?”
“I am now cariad, now you’re here. I’ve had words with Rhi and I’ll be so pleased to be away from her. She’s been listening to Johnny and seems to share his opinions about us.”
“Hey don’t worry about them, we know we’re meant to be together. We are in love, so stop worrying about what they think. We are what matters, that and getting you moved in. Damien and Chris have offered their services if you want them.”
“Great, it’ll make things easier if they can help. I love you Jack, now let’s get you to work. The sooner I get moved the better.”
