In this book (not naming it because I don't want to give it or its author advertising), "Seminole patchwork" is an abstract free-floating concept, divorced from the living Seminoles who created and continue to create it; a woman in California can create the technique ab initio by examining her mother's 1940s skirt and a few other photographs of textiles. No consultation with actual Seminoles is required or, apparently, considered.
Again, I need somebody to tag this in del.i.cious, please.
