What I need is the dandelion in the spring.

I'm not even going to bother locking this post. Such flailing cannot be restricted to merely my flist. But I will probably be rambling so much that hardly anyone will read it because I can promise there will be a lot of text in this post.

MOCKINGJAY
The book that stole my heart.
And mind. And broke them both a little.

Perfect!!!

You said everything a needed to say...Everything that's breaking my heart!!
Could you do an icon based on this part?

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“We were outside at the end of the day. I tried to catch your eye. You looked away. And then…for some reason, I think you picked a dandelion.” I nod. He does remember. I have never spoken about that moment aloud. “I must have loved you a lot.”
“You did.” My voice catches and I pretend to cough.

I am so glad to have really pinpointed that for you! :)
Even just reading this again is heartbreaking, tbh, haha.

I'll see what I can do to make an animated quote icon out of that.
My God. That quote is one of my favorites, there's so much meaning in that.

I've heard about this trilogy but never actually researched it... What is it about?

I heard about it a long time ago but, being the crazy workaholic I am, I never got around to reading the Hunger Games when I wanted to, so it became a summer venture. Honestly, they are so good. I can be kind of picky at times when it comes to books. I can almost always find merit in them, but it doesn't mean I won't criticize. But I really love the entire trilogy more than so many books I've read before ( ... )

This review is amazing. It's wonderful to find someone who had almost the EXACT same thoughts as myself in regards to Mockingjay. Reading this has helped pull me out of the limbo I've been in ever since I finished it earlier today.

Aww! :) I'm so happy to have helped! I know it was a not-so-great few hours after I finished reading. Writing this out helped me a lot, and I'm so relieved that a lot of us are on the same page. This was such a good book!

I just finished and totally agree with this! I've been trying to organize my thoughts and it helped to read this to untangle everything.

I have to reread the last few chapters to really capture everything and it might change my opinion, but I looked at the Hunger Games voting scene a little differently. Katniss was thinking about how things really needed to change and another Hunger Games would just put them into another cycle of cruelty and I think she knew at that moment that she had to kill Coin. She knew that it would be easier if she went along with what Coin wanted so not to raise suspicion. That's what I took the little exchange with Haymitch to be about, to see how much he was like her, to know what she planned to do so he voted yes. If they had opposed Coin's new Hunger Games it would have made it harder for Katniss to kill her.

That's just how I interpreted it. There's still so much to process.

Wonderful! I'm getting ecstatic finding so many people who can sympathize with what I'm thinking and feeling so I can get all my thoughts about this book sorted out ( ... )

Yeah the more I think about it the more I'm not sure. Like you said Collins made everything painfully realistic and didn't pull any punches which makes it seem very possible that Katniss was so broken and angry that she would want to punish anyone responsible for the loss of Prim. And she often comes to major realizations and makes decisions in a single moment and acts on them right away so I could totally believe that she felt justified voting yes ( ... )

Oh, don't apologize for making super long comments, I'm famous for them as you might already guess, haha!

I'm honestly going to have to sleep on it and then go back and read just this part to find the answer I want to stick with. They both make sense of me but they can't both be true.
I swear to God, Collins cannot fathom how this is making my mind explode. >_<

I am with you there. I could have seen Katniss dying. Gale, or Peeta, or Haymitch, etc. Finnick struck me the hardest, but Prim seemed the most... I can't even describe it properly. Finnick's death was heartbreaking, where Prim's was more heart-numbing. But yes, I agree with you, so much.

PETER PAN! YOUR ICON~ ♥

I'm sorry you had a crappy night. I'm the kind of girl who's always up to midnight or later, and constantly when I'm reading. But for someone who isn't used to that, I can understand a little. But for you to be literally sick, I'm so sorry! Watch a Disney movie, get some happy thoughts into that head of yours.

I don't know if it's right for me to comment on that, but the world is a scary place and it'll never be perfect. That's how life is. But it doesn't mean the world is all bad, there many things that are very good. Humanity will disagree and fight, but humanity also has a great capacity to love. Being afraid won't help the world get better, but showing love to as many people as you can will.

Do get sleep! Excersize, watch happy movies, listen to happy music, put your mind at rest. <3
