Restlessness and discontent are the first necessities of progress.

I have been giving the idea of a strike some more thought. I am convinced that with a carefully honed message faxed out the various Boston newspapers and radios, along with NPR, CBS, etc., you could get national news attention. It would be impossible for the administration to ignore you. Add in your parents, and you could control the Board of ( Read more... )

Okay, This is actually a response to another comment further up, I just don't want to read all of this again to find it.

Mr. Fox came into our school on the first day of school and sat all of us seniors down and had an hour talk with us. ( Mr. Lucia was there too but he didn't say anything... ) He said, right at the start, "I am not here to change a THING!" They both promised to keep everything the same. So far, they have changed everything for the seniors!
1. We are not allowed to sign ourselves out of school, even if we have our parent's permision and are 18.
2. We can no longer eat in the senior cafe. I understand that the boys lost it for a reason, but for none of the seniors to have access to it is just rediculous!
3. We cannot have a skip day, but we will anyway.
4. We are no longer getting out on our scheduled last day of school.
5. We have to make up snow days.

There are more, I just can't think right now. So, my point is that if you are trying to defend Mr. Fox in anyway, you obviously have not been effected by him ( ... )

Ok well not to insult the intelligence of the students but they have to want change. If you go up to most of the seniors and the junior going to be seniors and ask them about the difficulty of there schedule you'll find out its nothing close to difficult. They take classes that they can just coast by in and do little to nothing their senior year. All high school the majority of students do as little as possible to get by only a small few excel to their full potential.

Im not the smartest person in the grade and when I people that I thought would put more difficult classes on there next years schedule they thought I was crazy for taking advanced math and prob & stats.... like its not that bad. The fact of the matter is the older of student cannot be changed due to the fact that they already have there minds set and know that they don't want to do more that the requirments. You have to start in the lower grades. I came from Manchester and in 3rd grade I use to have to prcatice cursive writing everyday and read books every month and write papers on them after that and in 4th grade in G-town it was a joke. The whole high school student body, myself included, has gotten use to the norm of slacking off.

Start with the youngins....

Damn. My pulsed raced when I misread the last line of your post and thought it said "start you engines...". I thought for one second that you were going to take the lead. If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. What do you say Logan - how about changing the ending of your post?

Dani- What we were trying to say is it's not all their fault! Obviously things were going to change with new admin. That is pretty obviouse....if things didnt change I would be worried. Yes they can be jerks and all that...but they are doing their job....even tho I DO NOT agree with most of these changes.

Humm... I'm feeling the Anytownness in me... but I am soo busy and things like this take time, and more people and the student body doesn't seem that supportive... ahh what to do?... dilemma.. Where would I start? Because personally I think I’m the only student at GHS for this right now… the only thing is I was talking to my parents and they said a lot of the problem is the parents themselves because half of the town is townies… so as Logan said yea we do need to start with the younger kids and the younger parents because your not going to change the mentality of a freshmen now… they’re already corrupted by the system..
