And yea, this is one of the big things that we've been figuring out, with our continual delving too greedily and too deep into neuroscience and psychology, the creepy truth behind how our brains actually work. I find the "free will" implications a lot less interesting than the "personal identity" implications...

...which is why I wrote this, I guess :P

It's a good ugh! Ugh like, this was powerful and dark and I'm left reeling after having read it, unsure of what to say. :)

Really, it was excellent. I wish the SF I wrote came out more like this.

Operating on the principle of read good examples of the thing you want to write I can oh-so-incredibly heartily recommend basically everything Greg Egan has ever written. I consider him our generation's Asimov, and yes, I am aware of how big a claim that is :P
