Congratulations. You'll be amazed at how quickly your baby means everything to you. My little Nathen is already my whole world, and I don't get to meet him for another 14 weeks! There is a community her on LJ, Pregnant (http://community.livejournal.com/pregnant/profile), that is extremely helpful. They get a little pushy about having a natural birth, I'll warn you of that, but beyond that they are really helpful. Its a wealth of information when you have a simple question, or are worried but don't want to go to the ER. Also, do you have a doctor? Even if you've picked one they likely won't see you until you are closer to 10 weeks, but I can certainly suggest one or two if you are looking. I know pregnancy is really overwhelming, and I'm sure you are feeling like crap (if you aren't yet, you will be in a week or two), but I promise it's worth it. *hugs*
I'm so excited for you to meet your little boy!! I know I'm going to find out the gender as soon as possible because I am not a woman with much patience. Haha.
I have no doctor, I don't really know how to go about finding one (do you just to one and stick with them or can you meet a few before you have a legit appointment?)
Where are you going to have your little one? I didn't realize how much I didn't know about being pregnant until I actually became pregnant!
Also, not feeling like crap yet (cross your fingers for me lol) but I do cry all the time and my boobs hurt whenever I take off my shirt...but no sickness yet...just a little dizzyness (some from getting off my meds) and nausea here and there.
Thank you so much again! I bet you'll be a great resource since you're like maternal like crazy and a couple steps ahead of me lol
As for picking a doctor, you usually don't get a chance to meet with them. There is nothing saying that you have to stick with one if you don't like them though. If you go to your first appointment and the doctor isn't for you, you can always switch
( ... )
I think you should go with the first one she mentioned, the Waukesha one over Community Memorial. Don't go to Community please lol so many other hospitals are better!!! I'm glad your attitude is so..how do I explain it? Basically like, fuck you. Because it's no ones business, you did nothing wrong, and you are going to be fine. So they can fuck off. :)
Too bad we couldn't be going through this together, but I'm gonna wait a few...or several years :P But you know I'll be here probably to an annoying extent hahah. Love you
My mom wants me to go to either Children's Hospital through Froedert or St. Josephs because they're apparently baby expert places...don't know which to choose just yet. My mom is definately leaning towards Froedert in Children's because you have a pediatrician in the room and you're automatically in their system so it's easier to get in and see someone if something horrible happens (ie, when Kirsten had to stay there for a bit...) but I don't know....gah. So many choices!!
yeah, st. joes is really acclaimed for baby stuff. I personally love Froedert, that's the hospital I go to/will go to when/if I ever need anything!!! It's all up to you though, of course, and what doctor you end up liking!!!
Dr Brass, my doctor, is family practice, rather than just an OB/GYN. Basically that means she is qualified to be a primary care doctor as well, so I can see her even after I have the baby for my regular doctor visits (sinus infections, broken bones etc), and so can the baby. Family practice doctors are qualified to see people from 0-100. It's part of the reason I chose her over just an OB doctor. She can get to know my health history, and my baby's.
