Pretty sure that there will always be people in need and some people choose not to get help and choose a homeless and helpless lifestyle. For those that want help it should be readily available and it should be there. I agree we should be able to help our own first. But what constiutes our own? We have so many illegal immigrants here for opportunity sake. It's a mess. Where do we even start?

Good point. I feel like sometimes we as americans and as individuals choose to focus outward in an attempt to deflect some of the stress over our own problems. I just think that the government really doesn't have this luxury. Why when I apply for health insurance for my son in October do I not hear about it until January? I agree that people should not get a free ride in life and that some do choose to give up and choose homelessness but those of us that really do need help are stuck hearing about the millions that the gov and wealthy americans donated to Haiti and the like. Time to get our priorities straight ya know?
