A week without crap

Jun 07, 2006 09:58

Over the past week, I haven't eaten any fast food, purchased any coffee drinks or stayed up past midnight. While the first two I attribute more to being poor than willpower, I must admit that it does feel good to actually keep up a decent nutrition plan by making meals at home. When jmartinka visited over the weekend, it was hard to force myself to go to ( Read more... )

My only worry is that since late May, I've been going every day and I feel great, but once I get to Europe - will I lose all the momentum I've gained?

This is the kind of thinking that CONTINUALLY prevents me from working out. Whenever I feel like exercising, I think, "Well, but in x weeks I'll have this or that to do, so I'll have less time and probably won't work out, so what's the point of doing it now?" or "Well, in x weeks, I won't have access to a gym as much, so I'll just start some other time when I know I'll be able to continue." I finally just decided that it's better to do something than nothing even if whatever I'm doing now doesn't lead to long-term results... hence, I started doing cardio stuff Saturday and weight training Monday even though I'm going to Florida for 9 days very soon and likely won't do ANY working out then, so will probably lose all of the progress I might make.

I'm convinced there's NEVER going to be a good time to work out. hehe.

Anyways, good luck! Will you be on LJ at all while you're

I'm sure that any activity or exercise is better than none, even if it's not too frequent. I'm sure you'll have fun in Florida regardless :)

I will try to be on LJ while I'm abroad, yes! I don't want to pack too many "gadgets" (laptop, digital camera, camcorder) - I'm trying to figure out the best way to chronicle my journey that will give me the least headaches.

I was thinking of starting a membership at Golds... Of course I will have to wait until I have a job again, and it would probably be a good idea to ask the opinion of my doctor seeing as I need to take it easy and keep my blood pressure down... But if I get the OK from the doctor, I would like to join you in your gym going. How much is a membership?

Gold's is a good place to work out. There are lots of treadmills and low-impact exercise machines. I signed up as part of a promotion: $22 to join, then $22/mo. on a month-by-month basis. No contract. I don't know if they're doing promotions now, but I would just say call them. Look them up at goldsgym.com. I like the atmosphere.

So, are you taking an incomplete for the class you haven't done the paper for yet?

I had to take two incompletes; I finished the 414 Science and Theology paper 2 weeks ago, but Prof. Lindell hasn't graded it and assigned me a letter grade for the course. I am currently working on my English 496 paper for Prof. Medine, attempting to finish it as soon as possible. He said he would read it as soon as I submitted it and then give whatever grade I earn to the English Department, replacing the I.
