I hate people

I once worked in a hi-kill shelter in CA. People would bring in animals that we simply did not adopt out; ferrets, for example. We told the owners that when they left, we would euthanize their pet. We asked if they were sure, because there was NO chance that the pet would leave the facility alive. They frequently shrugged, cried, patted the animal ( Read more... )

And this is why I am going to become dictator, yes dictator. Presidents have to fallow the laws(supposedly...) but as a dictator I make up my own. As the dictator, one of the many laws would be what you do to an animal will get done to you. If you beat, starve, miss treat an animal, guess what fuckers, you will be beat, starved and chained outside in -20 degree blizzard, sucks for you. I firmly believe how you treat an animal reflects the way you will treat people, I've never met someone who beats an animal and doesn't end up beating their kids/wife. Personally I prefer animals to people, except the very young children, like under 5, they are still sweet. I have never understood why people will just send their pets to a shelter, knowing they will be "put down" because they are too much work, or the owner doesnt like the shedding. I mean kids are a lot of work, but you cant turn them in to a shelter to be killed......OK I'm going to stop talking before I go into a rant and this comment turns into a 5 page letter on why people suck.

I see it all the time here. Lots of families drop off old Rover because he is getting on in years and can't hold his bladder all day like he used to when he was a puppy. "Put em down doc" is something you hear more often than you would like to in this business.

I'm very impressed you can deal with that, I would go batshit crazy and beat someone. Its funny how I have all the patients in the world for most things, but I will not tolerate someone putting a dog down because they don't want to deal with it anymore. Its no different, to me at least, then beating your 2 year old because they will not stop crying. Now excuse me while I go count to 10 and practice my deep breathing.

The way I see it is that this shit is going on even if I turn my back and pretend its not so I might as well help where I can. I am such an animal fanatic. I used to want to be a marine biologist but decided to broaden my horizons and work with all animals. Plus no matter where I go in the world I can always get a job. A dog in America is no different than a dog in France.
