Hi fellow icon makers, it's 4 four months into 2013, and so I thought I would do a sort of progress meme things as we had one similar last year plus it would be nice to get some conversation going in this comm. So explain your favourite icons & techniques you have made, managed and loved also your worse and your areas for improvement

What are your 5-10 personal favourite icons you have made so far in 2013?

I really like your first favorite icon and also the one with the surfer. They are really quite lovely! Perhaps the texture use in the first one is something you can continue to experiment with? Also Y-E-S to trying again with text. let text be your friend! =D

Thank you :) Yes I will continue with the texture use it depends on the subject in the first place! I will try again with text it's just getting it right and readable that it my main issue other wise I would have it on every icon I make!!

What are your 5-10 personal favourite icons you have made so far in 2013?

TEXT! So glad to see so many people talking about working with it more because it can be a lot of fun. I can definitely see the improvement in your 'I am human' icon; the text there looks really pretty.

I actually really like the crop of #6. I think that if you'd left out the blocking it would have made for a really pretty icon :)

Lighting is also definitely something I need to work with! I twiddle with it so long and end up giving up a lot of times, lol. But yay text! More text on icons! :) The text on your second icon is great ♥

What are your 5-10 personal favourite icons you have made so far in 2013?

What don't you like about your fourth least favorite icon? It looks pretty cool from my point of view. The crazy texture work contrasts in a really cool way with the intense darkness of the subject.

It feels too loud texture-wise and areas are oversharpened. I liked it when I made it but now I'm just not so sure.

I didn't actually see any over sharpening until you mentioned it, hah! I don't think it is too much of an issue in that one, honestly. :)

I definitely think the colors add something to the composition though. Perhaps you could keep experimenting with adding splashes of color to your black and white icons as a way to bridge the transition between relying on black and white to focusing more on color?

What are your 5-10 personal favourite icons you have made so far in 2013?

I planned on replying 'but you do have such a distinguishable style', but then I really looked; you have been moving away from that somewhat more recently. I still think your icons have this particular "fouroux" quality that you'll never be able to escape though. Something about the way you choose colors and combine them with textures, I think.

And your third favorite icon? Still the best thing, I swear.

I've been all over the place! which makes the perfectionists inside me itch whenever I try to make a cohesive set, lol.

Your style is unique bb! I'm totally in love with your icons, esp with the Spartacus ones! And that Renly icon is so beautiful, I wish I was capable to make such a great combinations and compositions!

I am a huge fan of your cropping and your lighting work, obviously, but more complex stuff from you would be wonderful as well. Your blocking and blending are already pretty fantastic so it shouldn't be too difficult for you, I'd imagine. I can already pick out heaps of complex favorites at your community so...

Your use of colours is wonderful, I totally love that The Fall icon, the oranges and reds work so well together, and the composition is awesome! I also love your use of text and your cropping :D
