Image Clean Up Tutorial for PS7

How to go from
and
to this in PS 7

First, prep your first base by using Auto Levels, Auto Contrast, and sharpen once.

Do the same with your other base.

Go back to your first base, with the puzzle buried in the sand. We're going to clean it up by getting rid of some of the titles. First, using the lasso tool, select some areas of sand. It doesn't really matter what shape they are. When you have an area selected, press Ctrl+J. This will give you a new layer of just the selected area. Move the new layer until it covers the titles. Don't worry if it covers the puzzle a little, too. Erase anything that overlaps in places you don't want it too.

Do this with the night sky, as well. I used the rectangle marqui to select the sky near the titles and used that to cover whatever needs covering.

Then, blur the edges of the sand and sky to blend it a little with the background. Use the brush/eye dropper combination to fix anything of small detail.

Go back to you other base (the night sky + puzzle) and erase all of the background. The magic eraser tool works well for this. Then, crop it to the 150 x 150 pxls. This will give you the size you'll need for the other base.

Select All of your background-erased puzzle, and paste it into your other base.

Make sure your new layer is still selected. Then, press Ctrl+T to Free Transform the puzzle. Turn it until you have it alligned with the puzzle beneath it. It should look like this

Erase the overlap puzzle until it looks like the original base. I used a soft eraser brush to give it more of a blended look.
