The paintings of Pery Burge

Jan 20, 2005 00:01

Many months ago, I fell in love with the abstract ink paintings of Pery Burge. I finally made some icons in tribute to her luminous creations. Titles of the paintings and text sources are listed below the icons. For those who would like to add their own text or other modifications, the bases are at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!

I like your icons, Sis! My favorites are #4 and #7. I'm going to send #9 to Amy. :) And Pery Burge's paintings -- wow -- thanks for sharing those, too. Love, A

Thank you! :-) I thought of you when I made #4.

I thought I had posted long ago about her stuff; I know I sent the link to Mom, and I guess I remembered it being in my journal. But now I can't find it. Ah, well.

Yes, I could certainly live with a few of those creations around me! Do you remember the big painting that Keith had? Watercolor, I thought, of planets and landscapish. These remind me of that.

Oh, yeah, I remember that watercolor of the planets pretty well -- I loved that. I'd forgotten it was Keith's. I went to Burge's website and looked at the ink in swirling water progressions again -- I love that, that a flat (2D) painter would think of taking photos of a 3D effect (but made of painting materials!) -- and inform people to look at it three-dimensionally. But her paintings are really wonderful -- and the bigger the better.

Hi to iconista - I like the way you've used my pictures - just to let you know I've updated my site (same address) to include new work with ink on water ('peryscapes'). Hope you enjoy it!
Best,
Pery

Oh! I feel so honored, and humbled! You do such wonderful things. I'm glad you don't mind (and even like!) my using your images this way. Thank you for saying so!

I look forward immensely to exploring your "peryscapes."
