Text and Icons

I'm currently using Ulead Gif Animator 5 to make my icons. However, I'm not (100%) happy with the "add banner text" part of it. I even have Photoshop CS and Image Ready by Adobe, and am still having issues with adding text

I use PSP9 and save all my images as .pngs - it makes the text and pictures much clearer when you save. Saving things as jpgs, gifs and bmps can make things look much less clearer and a bit amatuer when saved.

Also go to a font downloading site and look for bitmap fonts. Sevenet 7 is a popular on, as well as silkscreen. Verdana at size 7 is really cute as well.

i need a copy of something, or a free downloadable program... my dad meant to send me adobe photoshop and forgot ^.~:; i miss making graphics...
