katiera reminded me of something I saw yesterday: Two mallard ducks and their lady-friend wandering around campus. Do ducks fly south for the winter? If so, these three are late!! What a strange place to see them, too. They must have wandered up from the river valley

Yeah I do that from time to time. I think people treat it as taboo because some people still inheently think that computers are for geeks and if you spend time on your computer doing things other than checking email, you are a no-lifer who only gets outside to check the mail.

Yep, I do that too. I never got the whole "IRL" thing either.

This *is* real life. These people *are* really friends. I talk to some online buddies far more often and know them much better than a lot of acquaintances I have "IRL."

It's not taboo among us. We are right there with you, girlie!

I've met at least a dozen people this year, all from LJ.

LJ people are friends. They're not some sleazebucket from AOL who wants to get in your pants. You've read their LJ, they've read yours, and you're real people to each other.

whenever i mention someone i know from not lj and not 'irl' i always feel the need to leave that part out, and just note them as a 'friend.'

but lately the lines have been kind of blurring...like i send and recieve christmas cards to them, ya know? ah well..
