Just because something never materializes doesn't mean you have to be disappointed that you spent time hoping for it. At least it means you had something to hope for. Besides, if you're going to be disappointed about the time, it wasn't worth hoping for anyway. Sometimes we just need to be able to hang onto that hope, it helps us get through the day, especially on those days that are neutral.
