Ron Asheton, the legendary guitarist of the Stooges died today. The Stooges were created in 1967 with Iggy Pop as lead singer, and credited with being the grandfathers of punk. R.I.P. Miriam Makeba
Miriam Makeba died today of a heart attack. She was an amazing south african singer who was introduced to american audiences in the 50s (or 60s?) by Harry Belefonte. Growing up as a child, she was one of my mom's absolute favorite singers (when she was 13!) and I grew with my mom playing many of her records for me.
