I know that they're doing a light rail for Seattle, to get to the airport. But I think it would be really sweet if we could do high speed train tracks like in Europe. So we could train it efficiently to California instead of fly, and get around Western Washington/Oregon too. And we'd just get a train pass ( Read more... )

interestingly enough, a high speed rail for the length of california is on the ballot this year. it would not be completed until 2019 and costs a hell of a lot, but it would actually mean much less money spent on building more highway and adding on to airports. and obviously so much better for the environment. so some of these plans are in the works.

if it passes in california, it might just pass to other places.

it's ridiculous how much we've been stuck in the dark-ages with trains in this country.
