This is the story of your red right ankle, and how it came to meet your leg.

"Red Right Ankle" and "Of Angels and Angles." I keep playing these same two songs, over and over again; I can't stop. It's tricky, too, because "Of Angels and Angles" is one of the most depressing songs I've ever experienced, in the same way that "Somebody" by Depeche Mode is sort of a drag. Actually, the entirety of Picaresque (the album on which ( Read more... )

I haven't heard "Of Angels and Angles" yet, but "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect" is another REALLY depressing/great Decemberists song.

I also watched the Ethan Hawke Hamlet of my own accord last year, when I was taking a Shakespeare course. I didn't think it was that bad. Certainly, not that good either, and I know I watched it in 3 parts because I didn't have the patience to sit through it all at once . . . not a good sign. I recall wanting to beat the tar out of Ethan Hawke several times. I don't remember Bill Murray getting the back of his head blown off, but knowing me, I probably anticipated that he was going to bite it soon and covered my eyes so I didn't see any of it.

It's funny -- "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect" never bothered me that way. I do really like it though, so, hey.

I'm probably not a fair judge of film adaptations because I'm so finicky about what they cut from the script and how they portray what they do show. A lot of the artsier business sort of rubbed me the wrong way. I agree about Ethan Hawke, though; he made a very squeaky Hamlet and I couldn't really deal with how much he looked like Tom Cruise. I think I may have liked him better in "Gattaca." But Gattaca had Jude Law.

Yeah, picaresque is pretty damn emotional. Probably the most that they've done so far. Not so much that the lyrics are depressing, but the whole album is just incredibly emotional.

"Bus Mall" fucks me up. Or not. Sometimes it doesn't do anything. Apparently I'M NUTS.

I'm gonna call you at some point about seeing SZ&TLA again, because I'm concerned it's going to leave the Crest soon. Rad.

Bus Mall is a pretty emotional song, however, the picture that goes with it just makes me giggle.

For a little while there I was worried you weren't going to notice the reference. But you came through! I finally got through watching the interviews on the DVD; it's always so heartening to be reminded that your heroes are uniformly broke, and, as often as not, also single parents. (Uck, that last sentence was a little ugly.)

Such a mix sounds awesome. I look forward to it with restless anticipation.

Wait, getting clean and becoming a conservative Christian? Did I just miss that part?? Good Lord, I'm going to have to watch it again. Yeah, Tim's is the best.

I've already got plans for tomorrow, sorry.
