A paradigm shift?

Hmm, so I think I can probably call Friday night a catalyst of sorts. Maybe it was getting quite drunk, wandering around outside the bar trying to get reception so I could call the silly boy who probably didn't even call me until he was already drunk, tripping and falling while trying to complete said phonecall (and maybe breaking Kim's phone?--I ( Read more... )

well. said. all around.

i think the revelations that thursday and friday provided = good stuff. he had a lot of "get out of jail free" cards with this, and so far he blew like all of them.

amanda's was fun, we missed ya :-) but i hope you enjoyed the game etc! We're making plans for future parties including riesling and moonshine, so there will be plenty of opportunities to hang out similarily in the future.

ummmm pupppies! kittens! marriage! the end

Yes, too many get out of jail free cards. If he contacted me and asked for another one in a convincing manner, I might be willing to give it to him, but that is highly unlikely. Highly unlikely. So, yes. I give you permission to keep me from making poor decisions in the future.

Also, I like the idea of future parties. I know I won't like it, but I kind of want to try Moonshine.

I think if we encounter this guy at the Vid and I've already had a few (what, me drink?), I'll give him a talking to MYSELF, which may or may not include slapping. You may have to restrain ME. People need to remember that when you mess with one of us, you mess with ALL of us, and while he should have respect for you because you deserve it, he should also be scared of your posse if he ever hurts you again.

Ha, I'm a little scared of you now. I don't think any slapping or anything is quite in order, he hasn't done anything mean, just stupid. My general impression of him at this point (and I tend to be pretty on-point with people) is that he is a nice guy, well intentioned, but just kind of a bumbling idiot at life. He may be dateable in about 5 years, but I'm certainly not willing to wait around for that.

But it's good to know that you got my back. I have yours as well; however, I don't see Jay stepping out of line anytime in the future : )

I think that sitting him down and trying to talk to him about it is kind of pointless. If you find yourself wanting to change somebody before you're even together, then you need to move on. You have no idea whether it's a temporary situation or not. Lots of people go on to act irresponsibly and disrespectfully their whole lives. It's not worth the hassle, if you ask me. Plus, there are a billion guys out there.

As for the "don't need this" thing, keep in mind that casual irresponsibility and gross irresponsibility are two very different things, and life isn't very much fun without any irresponsibility at all. The key is to try to limit it to the casual sort.

Also, I'm really excited to come down there next weekend. Aside from the obvious, what else do we have planned?

Yes, agreed. And I certainly don't plan on cutting out irresponsibility altogether, then next weekend would be no fun.

Speaking of, I need to start talking to people to see what is going on down here. I think probably there will be some kind of Halloween shenanigans at some point, so maybe bring some kind of costume? Or not, I don't really care. Oh and I was thinking for Saturday afternoon, either making a trip to our awesome winery in town here, and/or tailgating (a couple people from my school have tailgate a couple blocks away from where I live, which is more drinking during the afternoon than anything too strictly affiliated with football). We'll just have to have a filling dinner so we're relatively sober for the Dalai Llama. How does that sound? But yes, I am completely flexible.

If there is a costume party, let us know, we had one at my house on saturday, so we all have some sort of costume or another around.

Also, all of those things sound fun. Especially the filling dinner. But I think that's because I didn't eat a lunch. But I'll put my faith in you on this one. You do live there, after all. :)

Oh, I know about 10 good restaurants we can go to. Just about any kind of food you could want, we have a restaurant within 2 miles from my apartment. And costumes will probably be a good idea, but I will talk to people and see what's going on.

I love that you wrote this! I definitely have feelings like this, apart from romances with other guys (Jon's hard enough to keep track of). Ironically, I just turned on my own computer for the first time since moving out after Graduation, and the files and notes that have been locked away here kind of frighten me.

We were some pretty awesome undergrads, with some wicked casual irresponsibility. Damn.

If you ever need someone to Team Date (ie: call and tell you not to talk to him -- I just made that up using Tead Driving as a mold) you can call me! Also, I cannot WAIT to see you in December, if not sooner.

Ha, hopefully I won't need someone to Team Date (I don't think I understand what Team Driving is, but I think I understand what Team Dating is in context?) but thanks for the offer. I'm more concerned about me wanting to make poor decisions if I run into him at the bar after I've been drinking. But I have enough friends down here to prevent that, now that they are alerted... honestly, they would probably give the guy more trouble than he deserves : )
