For the most part, yes. But I have known a couple people who called themselves atheists who simply deny the existence of any gods without putting any thought into their position. Still... they were young, they may improve with age.

For me, it was more thinking that lead to me becoming an atheist.

From what I've observed, a lot of agnostics are either transitioning from religion or are suffering from spiritual apathy & laziness. It doesn't take much thought to think about something just enough to say "I don't know." Sometimes, not knowing is an honest answer.

But for all that, folks with religious believe tend to be a little more on the extreme of unthinking laziness. It requires even less thought to use actions of mysterious, magical beings as placeholder explanations for things that are not understood.
