(L hasn't been away from the crowd long; just long enough to set the kettle on, get himself a plate of tarts, and consider his reaction to what just happened.

Why is everything here so complicated?)

(The crowd was dying down, and L was tired, so he'd escaped into the kitchen, breathing a sigh of relief. He spots the younger L, and smiles slightly, moving over to him and shoving his hands in his pockets.

He's quiet for a moment, and then he gives L an apologetic look.)

Listen... I'd like to apologize to you for whatever Lex did to you.
I... get the feeling it wasn't something I'd be proud of.

You aren't interchangeable people. I'm not responsible for Matt's actions, nor is he for mine.

(Slightly amused.)

And I'm not angry about it. It's just difficult to remember, sometimes.

Well, no, I guess not.
Still, though. You're my friend, and if Lex has ever done anything to hurt you, I feel the need to mend that.

(Again, he's quiet, and then he asks in a soft voice:)

What did he do?

When he arrived, he was startled to see me. I backed away, he followed. He got into my personal space, and then we were on the ground. He kissed me, I fought back, he put his hands under my clothes.

(L tells all this to the tap, realizing he hasn't actually given the full story to anyone calmly yet, has he?)

Colourful Matt had to pull him off me. He said I didn't put up enough of a fight, I called him on it. A month or so later, I explained why it upset me, and he took it to heart and apologized.
