Does anyone know where around the Madison region I can find stinging nettles?

Off the beaten path, probably. Though, only really large parks won't be plant-species groomed, as even state parks do prairie/etc burning for control.

And...why, are you going to pad someone's pillow with them? XD

No, for eating.

Haha, I figured. =P My father says he has a very good recipe for nettles. More devious plans would be more entertaining, though...

Um, you should be able to find that pretty much anywhere that isn't very well taken care of. They're not very big yet -- 4-6 inches tall maybe -- so they're not going to be obvious. They like to grow in shady, brushy areas.

I don't know about here, but there are huge patches of them at my parents. In a few weeks they'll be tall enough to be easily identifiable, and if I go out there then I can pick them for you? Everything is a little slower growing out there because of the lack of sun in the valley...

Preferably live, since that is free. They don't so much sting me as just tingle so I don't mind picking them.
