Katsucon Happened

Boy did it happen. For me this convention was like a rollercoaster ride. It went by so fast and had tons of ups and downs, but when I got off I was so elated I just wanted to do it again. I even got some of those horrible rollercoaster-esque photos to prove it (you know the ones that make you look 1000% worse then you really do). I won't post those ( Read more... )

Ohhh, what makeup did you use for Harle? I'm in the market for new face makeup!

For Harley Quinn I tried Ben Nye Liquid paint and applied it with an airbrush. It was freaking terrible, very thick, cakey and it cracked everywhere. Disgusting.

For my Chrono Cross I decided to try out Krylon paints since I heard great things about them. I tried supracolor and aquacolor. The supracolor is really creamy and sticks really nice, but it rubs off on everything (like your hand if you scratch). The aquacolor is nice and thin but has the disadvantage of flaking. I couldn't decide what I liked best so I ended up doing a base coat of mostly aquacolor, and used supracolor in places prone to cracking and wearing off, like under the nose, frown lines and eyes.

It turned out pretty well. Your makeup looks great though but give krylon a try if you are unhappy with what you have.

Krylon Aquacolor is what I've used for Harley in the past, but I don't like how cakey it can get. Always have trouble applying it to my nose, too :/

Combining the two sounds like a good idea, tho! Thanks for the info!

Yeah, when applying it I was really careful to only use a little touch of water (the more water the more translucent it gets) and just used a sponge to stipple it on. I found that worked better then a brush or smearing it on. I also used a translucent powder to set it.

The supracolor was great, it takes a special cleanser to get it off, and it stays super creamy. I just wasn't keen on the idea of it rubbing all over my gloves and hat. I think the combo worked out the best.

1. Thank you <3 I was nervous I would look super silly in that costume since it was so poofy but I really like how it tuned out. I swear I have watched that part of the video a billion times and smile every time. I love when a costume comes together.

2. I KNOW! I entered in Novice (because technically I am one) but there must have been some really super special costumes in the batch. Oh well.

3. Sizer isn't dead, and the damage is repairable so I will definitely put her on one last time for you (I still need cutesy RaielXSizer shipping pics). For now, I will call her "on vacation". My shoulders are bruised from wearing her.

4. I MISS YOU TOO AND CANT WAIT FOR HARD CORE PROGRESS PORN!

=D Can't wait to cosplay together at Otakon. Gonna have to break out the sandy stuff as soon as I recover. For some reason I just need a week or two of no cosplay at all after a convention.

Looked up shunya's one voice art book. So many awesome things in there. Will have to see if i have time to make one for Cherry Blossoms. Ive never cosplayed to them before.

Thank you! It was great running into you, if only for a brief moment. Maybe next con - Everything got super busy but you looked amazing in your Julia costume.
