Thinky Thoughts About Masquerade

I think the title may be a lie. Or maybe not. I do have thoughts but I've been struck by the inability to express them. And that's rare for me. Apparently when Smallville is good to Chloe, I lose the ability to think rationally about the show.

I think some reviews touched upon how I feel and expressed my feelings better than I will be able to so ( Read more... )

So do I. Even more now that I know how lost she feels since she drifted from it. I honestly would have been happy to accept a different direction (no matter how much I grumbled initially) if Chloe was shown to be happy with her choice. But she's not.

She was herself when she was reporting. She believed in the importance of what she was doing and had faith that the truth she reported could change the world one story at a time. I want that to see that self-assurance, that confidence, that belief in herself again.

Now you see why I hate Chlollie and WatchTower sfm!

I want to see investigative reporter Chloe! She's the best. :)

And it seems it's when Chloe was happiest. It's what she misses.

I really really hope that will be the case, especially as they seem to have given up on the Watchtower idea completely so reporting would seem like the logical thing to return her too

Chloe was never completely happy with being Watchtower. I'm glad that she was given the chance to voice her feelings on the decisions she's made in recent years. That Chloe indicated she missed the girl who was a reporter first and foremost is a good sign, I think.

Plus the deleted scene from Hex hints that it was always something they were planning to get her back too eventually, but they kept stalling for some reason once the show was renewed...

Yes! I wonder why though. It all seems so pointless now.

an honest look at her journey and her decisions and more importantly why she made them and how she feels about them. I was desperate for such a scene

With Clark...

While using Oliver as a placeholder it did its job in the sense that she needed someone who cared about her to be there while she expressed herself. I just felt that the message and emotion behind her words would have been given some weight and resonated with the audience had it been shared with the one person who had been her witness and constant throughout her Journey.

We are down to one episode (that I know of). All I can hope for as a viewer who has been there since the day she made that bet, that the writers honor that shared history.

I would also like to see her return to her passion in Journalism (NOT TEACHING IT BACK AT THE TORCH.)

It would have been nice to see her have this moment with Clark as her sounding board for all the reasons you name but I think it did its job. At this point, that Chloe is being allowed to voice her thoughts and that the show is giving a platform for her POV is enough for me.

Oliver never knew the Chloe that she pointed at in the yearbook and it would have made sense to have Clark there but it's a minor complaint in my book in the large scheme of things.

It does seem that Fortune will have Clark and Chloe share scenes and screentime and plot. I hope it's as honest and heartfelt and meaningful for Chlark as I felt Masquerade to be for Chloe. Al mentioned on Twitter that Chlark fans would be happy with it. I guess we'll see how right (or wrong) he was in a few days.

I know this contradicts my earlier statement but I think I'll stab something if Chloe decides her vocation is teaching. I just will.

Maybe she picks a new name: Vicky Vale

So would I :)

I would love for her to pursue her career in a different city if circumstances demanded it.

Unlikely given that the show can't bring up Gotham due to film side restrictions.
