Chloe going back to reporting was wonderful. I wish they had made a bigger deal of it, though. Chloe was genuinely happy about going back to reporting, and about getting her life back on track, so that was nice.
Overall the writing for the episode was crap, and I mean that for the entire ep. It honestly felt like half an episode, there was no real development for anything.
Like others, I didn't think Chloe was leaving right in that moment, she was just pulling away in preparation for the move. I like Chlollie, but I LOVE that she made these decisions for herself.
I can't agree with you enough on #2 & #3. And also #4, although for me that relationship was, after reporting, the primary ball in her life that got dropped/thrown/snatched and run away with and I was hoping for something so much more than what we got.
The Chlollie scene at the end was perfect though (no thanks to ACS). I took Chloe leaving at the end not as running away necessarily from those people but as a need to disengage for a little bit; her schtick has always been to back off when situations become too emotional and I think that's what she was doing, pulling back from the emotions she was experiencing right then. Luckily Oliver doesn't let her get away with that.
Yeah, it bothered me that her ending feel a bit tacked-on. I'd expected more than just the one one quick reference to Chloe deciding on being a reporter in Star City. Seeing as it was something that many of her fans had been waiting for since Chloe first lost her job at the end of season 7, I was disappointed that the line was almost throw-away and we didn't get more of Chloe talking more of those future plans, with a more celebratory feel perhaps (like Clark being pleased she's getting back into reporting and saying it's how he's always seen her as a reporter at heart, something like that

I took Chloe leaving at the end not as running away necessarily from those people but as a need to disengage for a little bit; her schtick has always been to back off when situations become too emotional and I think that's what she was doing, pulling back from the emotions she was experiencing right then. Luckily Oliver doesn't let her get away with that.
