Buggered out of work early as compensation for us not getting a holiday party. Had a late lunch of burger and beer. They lost my order, but I had a book, free time and eventually a delicious burger, so can't complain

Was one of your 20 stores Burlington Coat Factory? I've had good luck with other stuff there, tho I never tried for jeans. Other thoughts: Express (haven't tried them in a long-ass time, but I recall them having generic straight-leg non-stretch types) and Gap. I heart the curvy line (which may be like 3% lycra, but they're not *stretch* jeans that cling, they've just got a bit of give when kneeling) but I also grabbed a paid of "essential" straight leg jeans which are plain (I think). Sorry if I'm just reminding you of bad experiences :( Good luck!!! I know pants shopping sucks. It's about the easiest way to ruin a day, imho. Eh, that and shoes, blah.
You know, I never would have checked Burlington. I tend to think of them as dressier than jeans. Not sure why.
The last time I went to Express, I bought pants in size 2. I mean, they fit, and they looked good, but this is not a size I should be.
I bought a few pairs of emergency jeans, but I think I may give the Gap a try. My issue with stretch denim is that they tend to tug down when you put your hands in your pockets. Maybe I should stop buying pants a size too large.
Oh, I've already decided that when I die and go to hell, I will be shopping for shoes for eternity while that duet between Sinatra and Kenny G plays on the loudspeakers.
I wear boys' jeans. I think old navy's men's boot cut is actually almost a flattering cut on women, and there is no stretch. When I was having this very same problem a few months ago, someone suggested gap's classic fit, or long and lean, but as I've never tried them, i bet they are stretchy.
