So, I have to get up early in the morning, and I tried to go to bed at a sensible hour. Yeah, I failed to fall asleep. So I'm watching TV while I try to get tired.

Aaaand, I gotta say, I may be done with FlashForward. Well, okay, let me qualify that. I find I'm bored with the show, probably because the show is repetitive. Really guys, you told us ( Read more... )

I actually did not realize that Flashforward was based on a book. Now that I know that, I *definitely* will not watch the TV show. Why spend 24 hours watching a show when I could spend ~5-10 hours reading the book and probably have a better experience?

Yep. The book was written about ten years ago, but is set in 2009, so it's amusing to go back and reread. They are very different in tone though. The book is more scifi, there isn't much of a mystery since the characters know early on what caused the blackout, and it's kinda existential. Which you prefer may just depend on what you like to read or watch.

I have a thing about shows needing to explain *why* the dick character is an asshole. Sometimes, people are just assholes. That said, I don't think Glee was actually doing that, hence the irrationality on my part.

I too inadvertently got hooked on Glee. In an attempt to become mor zen, I just let the anvils wash over me.

I didn't make it through the FIRST episode of Flash Forward. Too many characters, too generic, opening too reminiscent of Lost. Bah.

After my trip to Nola, where every stranger who had cause to read my name mispronounced it, I realized that I am free from any Names Have Power plot trope. If they can't pronounce my name, they cannot bend me to their will.

this is brilliant! Now, I understand why am drawn to these plots. You have no power over me.

I see little reason why moss can't enslave the planet. In fact, I think it may already be sentient. I mean, we already know that cats are our true overlords.

Dammit! Someday I shall be able to pronounce your name.

I read a book when I was a kid that had sentient moss. It may have warped me permanently.
