Torchwood

Those of you who have watched the Children of Earth eps -- should I bother? No one has outright spoiled it for me, but I've seen enough spoiler-y things to make me leery. If I'm going to hate it, then I'd rather just not waste the five hours.

But I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

This is a hard one to answer. It was riveting. It was like the best roller coaster ride ever. The writing was spot on, the acting the best ever, the scope enormous, etc.

The story? Not so satisfactory. Do you enjoy crying? If so, yeah, watch it. If not, just go for the spoilers and spend the time doing cheerful things. Are you emotionally vested in any of canon? If you are, and if losing it will create problems for you, skip it AND the spoilers.

I am very glad I watched it, even though I generally hate crying at TV shows. I am angry, too, and not necessarily because of the spoilery things you've seen.

Does that help?

Ugggh, that sounds worrisome. How can a mini-series that they're calling Series Three violate cannon? Was it written by fans? I don't enjoy crying, I have enough sadness in my life right now... I dunno, maybe I'll skip it. But... Jack/Ianto! Oh, I'm still torn. But thanks for the heads-up.

I guess I should have said that it introduces a whole new canon, one that makes what we THOUGHT was canon obsolete. I certainly didn't find it homophobic (as some in fandom have accused) but it was, to me, a story stepping backwards for Torchwood. For me. And it was awesome to watch. I loved how they did it. I just hated what they did.

Okay, I've decided I'm going to give it a shot and just brace myself for sadness. I'll let you know what I think once I've watched it all. :)

I've only seen a couple of episodes, and that wasn't one of them.

Overall, Torchwood left me shrugging, so I haven't bothered to watch any more.

Are you watching/reading anything good? I could use some distraction.

Are you speaking of fanciful distractions of an obsessive nature, as is my natural wont on a regular basis? Hummm ( ... )

I adore Doctor Who and am saving the new season to watch once Rob and I are out of here. I really can't wait, it's by far my favorite thing on TV.

I loved the old "V" miniseries, too! It's a classic and better than almost every other SF offering since. I'm looking forward to the remake and hope they do my beloved old show justice. I saw some comments that implied they were going to use it as a criticism of the Obama administration which just seems so... ODD to me. It must have been in post-production before Obama even found his slippers in the White House, you know?

Isn't "Flash Forward" basically the plot of the 4400? Damn, but I miss that show.

Hi, and welcome! I'm afraid I haven't been posted much or participating in the Oz community much lately, but I hope to jump back in soon. I've been enjoying your stuff, though. :)
