Minnesota Hiking in May

I've always hated bug repellent but realize if you are going to hike in MN in tick season there is no other way.  5/28/07 I went hiking at Banning State Park and found 7 ticks on me afterwards, I thought that was bad.  Today we hiked St. Croix State Park.  We went for a short

Wow, I go hiking a lot and have not had to deal with a lot of ticks. I wonder if something about the weather this year maybe upped the tick population.
