The idea that a 757 flew into that little whole in the Pentagon and then completely burned up is a little hard to believe.

I'll agree with this.

But everything else I'd have to believe to think it was something else is more absurd in my opinion.

Oh I agree fully that Bush used this event for his own political gains, that doesn't mean he or the government was behind it.
Problem with the theories are they are so huge, and they only get bigger. Logic dictates that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. So until I see something that is like "wow, no way you can disprove that" I'm confident that the government didn't pull of 9/11.
Just the sheer amount of people that would have to be in on this is amazing, I do not believe the government who still can't get health care to everyone in the country and takes 2 years to finish road construction would be able to do this with such precision that only a few college drop outs years later would be able to pick up on it.

YES, the Bunnymen have called to me lately, it's been magical. :P

With all the documented foreknowledge that the American government had concerning a terrorist attack, with which they did nothing to protect the country, what other conclusion would one come to? It's the notion that if you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. America holds the ideology that this government is powerful, competent, and capable. Armed with that knowledge, they "decided" to do nothing? And if their aim was to not upset citizens by warning them of a terrorist attack, why did that same government use the threat of terrorism, perhaps in an effort to unite the country, but definitely more so to raise acceptance for an unnecessary war, then use that notion to scare citizens into patriotism?

There is some far-fetched ideas about the topic, but I think it goes both ways. To say that the American government had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks is, I feel, completely incorrect. To go as far as to say the entirety of the event was planned by that government, is also going too far.

See, I understand what you're saying, and what you're talking about is the reason I was into the "truth" movement or whatever for about a year and half. But after reading more research and reading the NIST reports it started to make more sense how the official story is not only more probable but a hundred times more plausible ( ... )
