LJ Idol Season 8, Week 8, A Travelling Travesty, White Powder

For me traveling is one big drama and sometimes it turns into a nightmare. I am dependent on others from the time I leave my house till the time I reach my destination. It starts with the car service. Will they be on time? Will the person be nice? Will he complain about the dog? My ride picks me up and drives me the over an hour ride to the ( Read more... )

Ah, the insanity of travelling. I know it well. Had a similar incident with a male assistant getting flustered when I asked for help *to* the ladies' room. *laugh*

I love your metaphor of escaping off the plane like a "thoroughbred out of a starting gate". Definitely creates a picture....one I can understand.

What's with people not knowing what to do with us and bathrooms. It's odd.

I'm glad you liked the horse metaphor because I almost said like a bullet and realized that wasn't original and I had to think of something else.

That was interesting, to read that--it's kind of like me travelling on a plane. I don't like travelling on planes--and next month I probably have something like seven flights because I have to go to Spain--and not to Madrid. I'll be glad when all of my travelling is hopefully over for a while.

I don't really mind it, but it has gotten to be a bit of a pain. With my anxiety issues worse as a whole I do get anxiety about dealing with airport staff and security, but the actual flying part doesn't bother me. I do a lot of calming thinking to get through it.

A power trip for whom? All the airport staff or just the security agents? I was offended that they opened my well labeled brand new boxes of medication. It was also the trip where I had meds stolen, but not by airport staff.

All of them over you. They love intimidating people. They figure everyone is guilty of something.

I can totally relate to this. Ugh. Going through customs and immigration is worse. They question you about everything.

And the wheelchair thing... security assumes I can't walk because of combination limp and vision cane. So they ask me ten million times if I want to take their arm, or need a wheelchair, am I *sure* I don't need a wheelchair, and can they help me. Oh, and by the way, do I need a wheelchair?

I hate security.

I have never had to go through customs. Sometimes we use the wheelchair to put my bags on. I have only ridden it once and I can't remember why. I must not have been feeling well or something. It is hard doing the chair with the dog and navigating the elavators but it was with Fargo and he did awesome.

Yeah it's like keep your head down, don't question them, and don't put a toe out of line.
