Some would say I work with the cesspool of society. Every day I meet with sex offenders, career criminals, child abusers, substance abusers, the poor, the de-institutionalized, the downtrodden, the homeless, the mentally ill, minorities in so many ways, and all of them disabled. I'm glad you see her as a person. It makes me sad when people talk about people like Victoria as though they are the dregs of society. I do think that many don't know how they would react when faced with similar circumstances.

I'm sure it's hard not to say, "Stop doing this over and over again" when she repeats harmful choices. It sounds like you really help her though. Most people need someone to talk to.

It is hard to be patient with some people sometimes. You wonder why they can't see what they are doing wrong.

That poor girl! Just because someone makes poor decisions doesn't make them a bad person. I'm glad you're able to help people like this.

I have to not feel too sorry for her or i lose my objectivity, if that makes sense. It's a hard balance to find.

I feel for people like her and admire the work you do. It is so important to have that one person who just listens.
