Some would say I work with the cesspool of society. Every day I meet with sex offenders, career criminals, child abusers, substance abusers, the poor, the de-institutionalized, the downtrodden, the homeless, the mentally ill, minorities in so many ways, and all of them disabled. It is often a thankless job. Sometimes I wonder why I do it, but

You do a wonderful job, and you also write so clearly and beautifully. Have re read the last three entries. Today, I actually have more time! So caught up properly.
Love the simplicity and honesty in your work and in your life. I sort of understand what you mean about your client, the need to withold yelling ''just stop doing this to yourself!' must surface now and then. But it would not be the way to go as you point out. She really needs you, and will never function without help. Glad you are there. Well done.

I loved reading this. As someone who's grown up with drug addicts and those people that others look down upon. They really can be anyone.
