Thanks, I'm glad someone can relate. I remember the days of ramen until I started getting so sick from the msg in it.
I never thought the numbers thing would actually effect me in a way that was important or meant something. I didn't even realize it until my psychologist pointed it out.
I could relate to this and wanted to write about my food issues this week too, but it came out differently.
I grew up in poverty and I hoard food. At my last job, there was food around all the time and even if I didn't like it, even if I wasn't hungry, I felt like I had to eat it because it was free and I needed all the free food I could get. When really I don't, it's a mindset I have regarding anything really. If it's free, I hoard it.
My days used to be good or bad based on the number from the scale. It's not easy. I have lost large amounts of weight only to gain it back. I'm currently gaining weight and I hate it.
Baby steps is right :) It's hard for me, too, not to hoard, and to trust that there will be enough even if I don't stock up! Weight's tough, too, because there are so many societal expectations tied up with our weight and appearance. Good luck on the journey, and I'm glad you have your therapist to support you.
I spend way more at the grocery store every week than I should. My pantry is stacked, my freezer full. Three cans and three boxes of everything, just in case, and when I run out, three more.
