I've owned both a Vauxhall (Astra) and a Micra. Both makes go on for ever and ever. What you need to do now is a. drive both cars and b. do some research on one of the many car review websites out there that are independent.

It doesn't help much, but I've driven both, and wouldn't actively avoid either.

Personally, I'm cautious, and would always go for one offered via the manufacturer's 'approved used car' system, like Network Q and the Nissan equivalent. But that's just me.
