The whole DAB in car thing is weird. Basically there are still very few DAB units available (virtually none as standard) and those that are dont have the now also very needed iPod connectivity.
The government are pushing DAB (and rightly I think - I use a pure highway in car) however the car audio industry - where most radio listening probably happens - arent picking it up.
So best bet is get one of these : http://www.pure.com/products/product.asp?Product=VL-60905&Category=In-Car They are around 60 - 80 quid if you shop around and work really well. But hunt down the aux input jack on the car stereo and plug it in - dont use the fm transmitter. I've had one a couple of years and its indespensible.
I think I'll wait just now, as it won't become crucial until it looks like they really are turning off FM. I usually have CDs in the car (on the diktat of His Majesty Small Clanger) and by then I might have replaced my pocket FM radio with a DAB one and could theoretically plug that into the AUX socket.
fair enough - but I only really listen to Virgin/Absolut - and reception between here and oxford on FM is terrible. The DAB transmition however works a treat.
Not that weird. DAB, as a technical standard, has been superseded by better alternatives. (DAB was developed in the 1980s and standardized in the early 1990s. Technology and audio encoding has moved on a lot.) Many other countries are looking at using these other standards, which would leave the UK using a different standard - possibly mostly on its own. So few people feel like investing much in the technology, because they want the UK to use something less crap.
Hmmm… could be useful. It might depend on how easy it is to attach and detach.
One of the optional extras that can be installed on this car is a slide-out bike rack, which looks really nifty actually. Sadly the previous owners didn't have the foresight to have had one fitted.
ok, the halfords website is playing up for me, but it's a halfords high load rear mount 3 bike rack. I can't linky it tho, I have some kind of evil tracking cookie redirecting me away from it. And, it weighs a tonne.
For smallclanger: Pound shops (or 1.025 shops since the vat increase) usually have one or other of the clip-onto-something-maybe-even-your-book LED lamps. Even if it breaks after a month, it was only a pound...
I actually have given him one of those before - he misplaced it (insists it's not lost but...). He's also misplaced two torches, although he still has a third - a large Lego man one, which might at least not go missing as easily, (although if it does I'll be cross).

I think I had a corsa or a clio at the time and the sales guy said it'd fit that. Hatchbacky thing, anyway. So I know it fits red cars.
