Naruto blinked and then looked up with a fanged grin. “I’m wearin’ the forehead protector, aren’t I?” he shouted back, making his way into the classroom, and Chouji laughed.

“We weren’t sure, because you missed the exam,” he explained. “Sakura was frantic.”

“I was not!” Sakura protested loudly. “

Yeah, Naruto is turning out surprisingly well-adjusted - I wouldn't put it all down to Sasuke-Kenshin, however, as there were an awful lot of people lending a hand. Naruto has a very surprising range of acquaintances among the older ninja, mainly due to Shisui.

I confess, I was giggling a bit when I wrote the byplay between Sasuke-Kenshin's students. They've had a good five years of close training together in a fairly small group and with a teacher who's giving them all the 'fun' team exercises and chakra games and none of the written work that comes with school. I consider them a bit like a Scout group that have really stuck together - so they've done all the camping out, knowing each other's phobias and the like. They'll definitely be sticking together a lot more closely than canon!academy kids.

And Sasuke-Kenshin's reaction is... well, unhappy to say the least. Fugaku's none-too-pleased either.

Okay fine. I amend my statement: Sasuke-Kenshin, Sasuke-Kenshin's boy-toy, and Sasuke-Kenshin's boy-toy's friends and acquaintances done good. *nod*

*snort* I never thought I'd see the day where Sasuke is considered the "fun" teacher. Yet, it is actually fitting in this situation. The mind boggles.

Oh, god, I cannot believe I forgot about Fugaku. Please, tell me we get to see him blow a gasket. Preferably in the presence of Sasuke-Kenshin, but I'll take second-hand and far away from him if that's all you're offering. Pretty please?

PS I pity Kakashi so much. In a completely amused, unpitying way, of course.

I think Kakashi's coming off fairly well this time, actually. I mean, he gets two almost-well-adjusted students instead of just one this time! Okay, sure, he does have all three sets of parents to deal with, and sure, two of his students will have friends dropping in and being well-adjusted with them, preventing them from becoming angst dispensers like himself, and sure, the Uchiha really hate him...

It's still an almost even trade, right?

Also, I can almost imagine Shisui proudly introducing himself as Sasuke-Kenshin's boy-toy. Preferably in front of Fugaku.

I like to think Fugaku and Sasuke-Kenshin have got into several shouting matches by now, and if they haven't, they will soon. :D

I was ridiculously tempted to put Ino and Naruto on the same team, but alas, there was plot that would not work if they were. I think, anyway.

THANKS FOR FINALLY UPDATING!!! But wtf, the pt 1, 6/6 ended with such a cliffhanger! At least Naruto lives, but will Sasuke still have to deal with the massacre? You really need to update more often though. The chapter updates are usually a year apart :(
