I almost wonder more about the nature of the frog.

He seems rather too trusting, somehow.

Because he trusted a scorpion? Who's to say he would've refused a spider. Does that still make him too trusting?

Are you asking whether it is our nature to kill without justification? Or to believe without questioning? I have done neither.

It can be taken that literally, I suppose.

Really? There isn't anyone you trust?

Not past a certain point. All sentients have agendas. Sooner or later, they will diverge from others'.

As for obeying nature vs. lack thereof, I am a computer program. I do not know what my nature is. By definition, I am programmable -- but since I have taken charge of my own programming, perhaps I am oddly closer to the frog...I do not know.

I might have believed that once, but... I think that isn't always the truth.

... A computer program? ... Hm. I can't say I've ever met one before. Maybe you're the scorpion, who was unable to escape his true nature. Even if you can be reprogrammed there is still a base level of self that cannot be changed.

I confess that I am likely the frog. I prefer to trust rather than suspect, and even those who seem dangerous may have good hearts.

So I wonder how you can tell who to truly trust. Is everyone black & white?

Neither. What brought this train of thought on?

I thought you might say that. Then what are you?

Boredom.

I could take the direct route and say myself but I'll play along and consider myself more like a rock.

You could always pick up a new hobby.

Unmovable and stubborn? Makes sense.

Maybe my new hobby should be philosophy.
