Mamma Mia and WALL -E

I think I should stop anticipating things. Not that Mamma Mia was bad. Far from it. But I didn't love it. I like loving things, and I didn't love it.

OK, I loved The Winner Takes it All and I loved Meryl, and I loved Greece. And I loved Christine Baranski and Julie Waters. They were awesome. I liked the rustic versions of the songs. So much so, ( Read more... )

The "photos" of the dads from the past were hysterical (although I think they used Colin's from his Amanda Byrne movie). I also thought the end credits were hysterical -- they really looked like they were having fun..I think that is what I enjoyed most.

It was just a happy movie, and that's nice to see.

I also the Colin/boyfriend thing came out of nowhere..is that in the original show, do you know??

The end credits were awesome. It was their solution to the encores they have during the show. I love how you can tell that they were having a lot of fun doing it.

You're right - it was a happy movie. Pure joy. And great music. And sunshine.

Colin's character in the musical has a uh, boyfriend? Partner? Husband? Which I actually prefer to falling in lust with some boy toy, same sex or not.

I'm with you on your Mamma Mia! review. It was good, not great. It was a nice way to spend a couple hours on a very hot summer day. A lot of the scenery shots looking down at the ocean from the inn were gorgeous. I so want to go to Greece! Someone said it's impossible NOT to laugh during PB's part in SOS, and he was right. Well, chuckle anyway. ;-) "I Do" was great, though. When he loosens up, he's all right.

Whatcha doin' in Cary?

I saw it again last night (with Marni), and my opinion of it has improved, but it's still good, not great ;-) I love Pierce in "I Do." He's just having fun, and the snapping at the music, etc. was quite enjoyable.

I am in Cary to check out the area a bit more. I wanted to come down to see if it "feels right." I believe that you just feel it when you're trying to decide something big, like a move. So far, I confess that I don't feel it. It's nice and all, but I can't help but wonder if it's worth moving down here because it's not something I have to do. But I don't know if it's my resistence to change sneaking in, or if Raleigh just isn't for me. Ahh!!!!

The heavy musical pieces just weren't meant for someone with Pierce's voice. But he looks damn fine. :-D

I know what you mean about the feel of a place. I knew I wanted to be in Raleigh during my first visit. I knew Knoxville was right when I flew over the mountains and lakes (just like NH) for my interview. Raleigh might not be for you, but there's a place somewhere out there with your name on it.

Man! You knew two places were right for you besides NH?! I think I need to re-look how I feel about places. But I did meet some very nice people from Cary's Catholic church's young adult group. They were warm and welcoming. If I were to move down there, I'd be sure to join their group.

And yes, Pierce's fine looks made up for his singing. Especially at the end when she rips his shirt off. I heard that was something Meryl thought up of. Smart woman.
