FUN RUN RESULTS!

Apr 25, 2008 02:41

So, tonight was my first 5k. Sort of.
Actually, it wasn't.
As it turns out, the route was about 2.9 miles. I guess it being a 'fun run' gives them the discretion to call it a 5k when it isn't one!

My time was 36:53 (12:43 pace) and I DID NOT STOP RUNNING AT ALL! My friends estimated that our time may have been a little faster than that because we ( Read more... )

I don't think there was any realistic way to stop people who didn't pay... There was hundreds of people, after all. They just awarded the payers with cool t-shirts (glow in the dark!) and an orange and blue Livestrong style bracelet which got you into Gator Dining after the race. You wouldn't have been able to eat or drink in there after, but I couldn't even eat anything and I'm sure they had a beverage stand somewhere outside too.

I'd be so scared to run a 5k in Tally.. If I thought that Museum Rd and Gale Lemerand are hilly (and they are-- consider Museum rd over by Frat Row and Hume.. it's tough) I'm sure anything in Tally is worse.. But it'll just make you stronger! lol

ah true, I guess most of them do give you numbers.. They didn't, I guess because it was a "fun run." the only distinguishing feature of the run that made it seem like a race was the big timer at the finish line.. and maybe all the UPD guiding us and keeping traffic away.. :)

Must've been a sight to see, with cops directing traffic.. Like at Gale Lemerand and Museum? You're just stopped there cause the cop told you to and then 500 people run by before you can go.. lol

Good job!!! You ran that a lot faster than I ran my first 5k (14:30 minute pace, finished with 45:02).

I honestly felt like I was the slowest runner out there.. It felt like the only people who were behind me were the ones alternating running/walking.. But I probably wasn't the slowest runner. I just feel like I work so hard to still be sooo slow! lol

45 minutes of running, though.. wowza. 37 minutes was wearing me out a bit, let alone another 8 minutes. 8 minutes can be eternity when you're tired and running.
