I like my fanfic to have as much canon built into it as possible and I totally agree with this take on Reid's social isolation and lack of support structure. He's really a pretty sad, lonely character from what we've been shown, just one who's had to learn to hide it well to cope with things.

I definitely think Reid never learned how to interact with people on a social level, probably because no one taught him too because he was "special". And I wouldn't be surprised to find out that adults (teachers, neighbors, etc.) drifted in and out of his life when he was a child, taking him under their wings for awhile but then dismissing him when it became clear he needed more than the occasional pat on the head. He's learned he can only depend on himself.

Will edit soon with a "real" review when I finish reading...
ETA: Okay, issues of spelling LAS Vegas aside, this is awesome! I really like how you depicted Spencer's sudden grief. I love how you describe Spencer's sense of loss and confusion and I love Rossi's insights and indignation. I especially love cranky!Rossi's handling of Hotch. Rossi is going to be a force to be reckoned with, isn't he? I'm totally hooked and am excitedly waiting for the next part.

I think Rossi's the one person who possesses the authority to question Hotch without it coming off as insubordination or a threat. And there's no way to really be prepared for such a loss, no matter whether or not you see it coming.
Thanks for reviewing!
